Join Rover Scouts (18-24+) :
Rover Scouts are young adults, these are men and women
usually aged between 18 to 24 years of age (but you are
never too old to be a Rover Scout if you are unable to
fulfil the role as a leader) and making up the fifth
section of the Scout Group known as ‘THE CREW’.
Rover Scouts within the Crew participate in the normal
Scout Troop activities with additional Rover Scout
meetings of their own organisation. This is basically a
service section with a progressive and continuing wide
ranging training scheme especially suited to young
adults leading to the obtaining of Rover Scout
proficiency and service badges. Rover Scouts also assist
with the training of the Scouts and running of Scout
Troop programmes, and assisting with the organisation of
the Scout Group activities in all sections as part of
the service role.
Rover Scouts are easily recognised by their distinctive
and very smart traditional Senior Scout uniform,
comprising a khaki short sleeved shirt with green
epaulettes, a traditional Scout hat or green beret, navy
blue cord shorts, a traditional Scout leather belt, navy
blue long socks with two emerald green rings around the
sock downturns supported by red garter flashes. They
also wear their Scout Group colour neckerchief with a
woggle. The uniform is purchased from the Scout Group
who maintains a good stock of all Sections’ uniforms.
Rover Scouts meet organise their own activities,
adventures and serve, and therefore meetings are
arranged to suit. They are required to attend Church
Parades held once a month, support the Scout and Senior
Scout Troop and Scout Group in activities from time to
time by the Scout Group of which they will be notified.
Most importantly uphold at all times their SCOUT PROMISE
that they solemnly make at their Investiture along with
their SCOUT LAW.
Rover scouts take part in a wide range of traditional
more advanced scouting activities, challenges and
service to the scout group and the community as part of
their continuing scout training programme. All within
our very friendly family orientated scout group.
ROVER SCOUTING or ROVERING is about maintaining life
long friends, as part of a skilled and proficient team,
participating fully in the more adventurous activities
and providing community service whilst developing ones
character, confidence and good citizenship.
Hopefully all Rover Scouts, who are able and time
permitting, will become leaders in at least one of the
sections within our Scout Group and be very appreciative
and give to others the advantages that they have gained
through Scouting.
